Which type of pass device is chosen has a major impact on almost all major regulator performance issues. The most notable of these is the dropout voltage, VMIN.
It can be seen that the all NPN pass devices of the columns A and B have the characteristics of a follower circuit, which allows high bandwidth and provides relative immunity to cap loading because of the typical low salt. The NPN Darlington is to achieve low dropout, for each load current. This is because the VBE (s) of the pass device appears in series with the input, preventing the saturation, and therefore the establishment of a VMIN of about 1 or 2V.

GPS module: – It includes Fox Crystal Oscillators, RTC crystal frequency of 32,768 KHz and a LDO (Low Drop Out) regulator. Few series of FOX are used in TCXO as GPS application like FOX923GP, FOX914 and FOX312BE series for sine output cut, 0.5 PPM stability, and operating voltages from 1.8 to 3.3.
FOX series are used as an RTC crystal in GPS application like FX255, FX145 and FX135 series for the long term stability and the frequency of 32.768 kHz. The Fox products used in GPS application are RoHS-compliant product.
